No booking needed for the hike. For climbing, book a 2-hour taster session with a reputable company like Railay Rock Climbing Shop.

Where to Stay Tonight

Ao Nang (Mid-range hotel or guesthouse (e.g., Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort, The Nice Hotel))

Ao Nang is the main hub with easy access to boat tours, a wide range of dining, and convenient transport back to Krabi Town or the airport.

For a less crowded snorkeling spot on the Hong Islands tour, ask your boat captain to stop at Pakbia Island (if conditions allow).
Day 1 Budget: $75-120
2

Jungle Pools & Temple Climbs

Than Bok Khorani National Park & Tiger Cave Temple
Discover crystal-clear natural pools in the jungle, then challenge yourself with a climb to a impressive mountaintop temple for panoramic views.
Morning
Emerald Pool & Blue Pool (Sa Morakot)
Hire a scooter or taxi to Than Bok Khorani National Park. Walk the easy boardwalk trail through the rainforest to the impressive Emerald Pool, a natural thermal spring perfect for a swim. A longer walk leads to the even more spectacular Blue Pool, a deep, vivid blue mineral spring (swimming is prohibited here to protect it).
2-3 hours $10 (park entry) + $15-20 (scooter/taxi rental)
No advance booking needed. Go early (by 9 AM) to avoid the crowds at the pools.
Lunch
Krua Thara
Authentic Southern Thai seafood Mid-range
Afternoon
Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) Summit Climb
Head to the Tiger Cave Temple complex. The main challenge is the steep climb of 1,237 steps to the mountain peak. The strenuous hike is rewarded with one of Thailand's most incredible views—360-degree panoramas over Krabi's jungles and limestone cliffs, and a majestic golden Buddha statue at the summit.
2-3 hours (for the climb and summit visit) Free (donations appreciated)
Wear proper shoes, bring plenty of water, and start the climb no later than 3:30 PM to allow time to descend before dark. Shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the temple area.
Evening
Farewell Dinner in Krabi Town
Head to Krabi Town's night walking street (weekends) or the riverside for dinner. Try Ruen Mai Restaurant for excellent local cuisine in a traditional setting.

Where to Stay Tonight

Ao Nang or Krabi Town (Same as previous night if flying out late, or a hotel in Krabi Town (e.g., Krabi Town Hotel) for early departures.)

Staying in Ao Nang allows for a relaxed evening; staying in Krabi Town positions you closer to the airport or bus station for an early morning departure.

After the Tiger Cave Temple climb, soothe your muscles at the nearby Klong Thom hot springs—natural thermal waterfalls and pools set in the jungle (small entry fee).
Day 2 Budget: $45-80

Getting Around

For Day 1, use longtail boats from Ao Nang beach. For Day 2, rent a scooter (approx. $8-10/day) for maximum flexibility to reach the inland sites. Book your accommodation in advance, in high season. The Hong Islands boat tour can be booked a day ahead. Consider pre-booking a rock climbing taster session if you're keen.

Packing Essentials

Swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, mosquito repellent, sturdy shoes for temple climbing, lightweight clothing that covers shoulders/knees for temples, dry bag, snorkel gear (optional, can be rented), waterproof phone case.

Total Budget

$120-200 per person for the 2-day itinerary (excluding flights and accommodation).

Customize Your Trip

Budget Version

Stay in a hostel in Ao Nang or Krabi Town. For island hopping, join the cheapest group longtail tour to 4 Islands (~$15). Eat at local markets and food stalls. Rent a scooter for Day 2 instead of taxis. Skip the upscale lunch and pack snacks.

Luxury Upgrade

Stay at a luxury resort like Rayavadee on Railay. Charter a private longtail boat with a captain for customized island hopping. Book a private guided tour for Day 2 with an air-conditioned car. Dine at exclusive resort restaurants or the Grotto cave restaurant.

Family-Friendly

On Day 1, opt for the gentler 4 Islands tour (Tup, Chicken, Poda, Phra Nang) which has calmer swimming areas. Skip the strenuous Tiger Cave Temple climb; visit the cave at its base and see the monkeys instead. Visit the Emerald Pool, which is safe for kids to swim in. Choose a hotel in Ao Nang with a pool.
